ORIGIN: Genmaicha tea is a traditional Sencha (green tea) blended with toasted brown rice. This type of tea originated in Japan, although our Genmaicha comes from China.
ABOUT: Genmaicha has a unique grassy and nutty flavor profile, with notes of roasted rice or popcorn and a subtle sweetness from the green tea.
BENEFITS: Due to the addition of roasted rice, Genmaicha contains even less caffeine than other green teas, making it a milder alternative. It retains many of the health benefits associated with green tea, including antioxidant properties. The roasted brown rice also adds soluble fibre to the blend.
USES: Genmaicha has been enjoyed in Japan for centuries and is often consumed throughout the day. It is known for its comforting and soothing qualities and is sometimes served alongside meals.
BREWING: Allow 1- 1½ teaspoon per cup. Boil the water and wait up to 5 minutes before pouring it onto the leaves. Steep for 3 minutes. The brewing time and water temperature can be adjusted based on personal preferences.
