Description
Seborrheic dermatitis, also known as seborrhea, is a long-term skin disorder. Symptoms include scaly and oily skin with itching and redness. Areas of skin rich in sebaceous glands are often affected, including the scalp. The exact causes remain unclear but are believed to involve various genetic and environmental factors.
The condition can be exacerbated during adolescence due to hormonal changes, during the winter due to cold and dry weather, from stress, fatigue, taking certain medications and the use of inappropriate cleaning products and cosmetics.
